Advanced Wilderness Studies
Workshops put into action the off-trail and route-finding skills you
have developed by crossing difficult terrain. By following dry washes
and animal trails, as well as doing some climbing and scrambling (using
hand- and footholds), you will be able to experience some of the canyon’s
more remote areas.
These workshops are more difficult than most other
GCFI outings, requiring a much higher level of fitness and technical
skills (including some experience climbing).
Prerequisites
An Intermediate Wilderness Studies workshop of hike level 5 or higher (preferred), or significant multi-day backpacking experience that includes rock climbing. Must be approved by instructor.
