"Mountain lions play a vital role in Grand Canyon National Park's ecosystem by helping maintain the ecological balance. The lion is the national park's last large predator. Lions help keep the ungulate population stable, which in turn keeps the vegetation, and the wildlife that depends on it for food, healthy. As top predators lions are skillfull hunters. Lions prey mainly upon mule deer, elk and bighorn sheep. Rarely seen, these elusive and solitary creatures use silence, stealth and stalking to capture their prey, typically by ambush. The Grand Canyon Association and Grand Canyon National Park have created the Adopt-a-Lion program to help preserve and protect all Grand Canyon wildlife. This mountain lion ball cap is made especially for the Adopt-a-Lion program and is available only through a $30.00 donation to the program. Great news! Participation in the Adopt-a-Lion Program by members and park visitors has enabled the park to hire a wildlife specialist to monitor the roaming of three lions! Revenue from the program is being used to purchase the monitoring equipment as well as provide the specialist's compensation. We are grateful to all our Adopt-a-Lion supporters. Cap arrives with blank certificate and a sticker."
