The elusive Abert's squirrel has lived on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park for more that 10,000 years, as has its cousin the Kaibab squirrel on the North Rim of the canyon. Both squirrels are known as tassel-eared squirrels, and they are well adapted to their environments: the distinctive ear-tassels or tufts grow to 2" long in order to protect the ears of each of the squirrels from the cold. Tassel-eared squirrels are quiet, shy animals that spend most of their time in and around the ponderosa pines where they build their twig nests. Tassel-eared squirrels grow to 21" and they have tails as long as 10".Made in China. Remove hang tag before presenting to children under 3 years of age. Plush toy conforms to all federal and state safety regulations. 14" long.
The book telling the story of Rascal, the Tassel-eared Squirrel, is also available in softcover ($9.95) and hardback ($16.95); it makes the perfect complement to this plush animal.
