Join us for a journey into the heart of Grand Canyon, and allow a four-legged friend to bear your burden.
After an orientation day on the South Rim, we will hike down the scenic South Kaibab Trail for a two-night stay at Bright Angel Campground. Mules carry most of the gear in and out of the canyon, allowing participants to devote more time and energy to uncovering the canyon’s secrets. During our quality time on the canyon floor, we’ll learn about the formation of the canyon from the inside out. Points of interest include the plunge pools of Phantom Creek, historic Phantom Ranch, ancient ruins, and the breathtaking Colorado River. The hike to the rim on the final day via the Bright Angel Trail reveals yet another ecosystem—that of the lushly vegetated banks of Pipe and Garden Creeks.
Participants receive a complimentary copy of An Introduction to Grand Canyon Geology, published by Grand Canyon Association. |
